Looking for an easy way to cook pork ribs? Slow cookers, and particularly crock pots, are the perfect solution. BBQ baby back ribs are a breeze in a slow cooker. Sweet and sour ribs- piece of cake. Minimal preparation is required for slow cooking.

Slow Cooker Sweet & Spicy Baby Back Ribs

MAKES 8 SERVINGS - PREP TIME: 20 MINS - SLOW COOK TIME: 4 HRS

Note: For appetizer portions have the butcher cut the ribs in half crosswise.

Slow cook recipe ingredients:

3 chopped green onions
1 Tbsp. minced fresh ginger
l ½ tsp. minced garlic
1 Tbsp. vegetable oil
1 (12-oz.) bottle chili sauce
1 (8-oz.) bottle hoisin sauce
½ cup applesauce
½ cup beer
2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 Tbsp. country style Dijon mustard
1 to 3 tsp. hot sauce
2 slabs baby back ribs (approx 5 lb.)

Slow cooker preparation:

Sauté the first 3 ingredients in hot oil in small saucepan over medium heat 3 to 5 minutes or until very tender. Stir in next 7 ingredients. Bring to a boil and reduce heat medium-low. Simmer for 5 minutes.

Place 1/2 of the baby back ribs in a layer in a lightly greased 6 qt. slow cooker. Next, pour 1/2 of the sauce mixture over the baby back ribs. Top with remaining ribs in a single layer. Pour remaining sauce mixture over ribs. Slow cook ribs for approximately 4 hours.

Slow Cooked Barbecued Country Style Ribs

MAKES 4-6 SERVINGS - PREP TIME: 10 MINS - SLOW COOK TIME: 7-9 HRS

These country style ribs are slow cooked with apples and spices to add a distinctive flavor. This is an easy slow cook recipe for boneless pork ribs.

Recipe ingredients:

3 pounds boneless country style pork ribs
2 large apples (tart), peeled, cored, and chopped
1 large onion, halved, thinly sliced
1/4 tspn cinnamon
1/4 tspn (barely) allspice
salt and pepper to taste
1 cup barbecue sauce -

Slow Cooker Preparation:

Combine boneless ribs in slow cooker with apples, onion, cinnamon, and allspice. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. When ribs are well into the cooking process, add additional salt and pepper to taste.

Cover slow cooker and cook ribs on LOW for 7 - 9 hours. When finished, drain juices from the top of the ribs. Add your favorite country style pork rib barbecue sauce and continue slow cooking for an additional 30 minutes.

Slow Cook Dr. Pepper Ribs

Ingredients:

2 to 3 pounds pork country-style ribs
1 cup ketchup
8 ounces Dr. Pepper

Preparation:

Combine ketchup and Dr. Pepper

Place country-style pork ribs in slow cooker.

Pour Dr. Pepper/ketchup mixture over pork ribs. Cover and cook ribs for 2 hours on HIGH then cook for 3 to 4 hours on LOW. Baste occasionally if desired.
Serves 6 to 8 people
